Richard A. Josephson MS, MD, Professor

Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University, United States.

Dr. Josephson’s long career has spanned multiple aspects of cardiovascular disease, including molecular studies of cardiac excitation-contraction coupling and animal models of cardiovascular disease and aging, clinical investigations of the cardiovascular system in health, aging, and disease, novel drug trials, large international “mega-trials”, pragmatic studies of CVD prevention, and epidemiologic studies of health care delivery.  His work is often trans-disciplinary, and he founded the Biobehavioral Heart Health Institute in Ohio, USA which serves as a foundation for studies with colleagues in nursing science, psychology, epidemiology, and exercise physiology.

He received his MD from New York University, where he also pursued graduate study in psychopharmacology, then residency and fellowships at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and the National Institute on Aging.

He is extensively published, widely cited, and an active member of several professional societies, editorial boards, and academic institutions. His work has been funded by private philanthropy, industry, and the NIH.

Dr. Josephson has a particular interest in exercise physiology and cardiac rehabilitation, and the myriad positive effects of exercise.
