Ibrahim Aykac M.D.
Mr. Ibrahim Aykac is currently a MDPhD candidate affiliated with the Center for Biomedical Research and Translational Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria.
His primary research focus lies within the realm of cardiovascular diseases, encompassing heart failure categories such as heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), diabetic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, and the diabetic-induced alteration of vascular function. Additionally, he investigates dysfunctions in coronary arteries and endothelial dysfunction.
Mr. Aykac has garnered valuable research experience through collaborations with renowned international institutions. In 2022, he served as an invited guest researcher at the Vinicio de Jesus Perez lab within Stanford Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. During this period, Ibrahim established a cellular diabetic disease model aimed at characterizing endothelial dysfunction in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension with altered lipid metabolism. In 2023, at Harvard Medical School, specifically within the BWH Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, he delved into the study of abdominal aneurysms induced by oxidative stress in a chemogenetic transgenic mouse line.
Ibrahim's skill set extends beyond general molecular biological techniques to encompass wire myography, pressure myography, echocardiography, and in vitro vessel function analysis. Notably, he has been selected for the highly competitive and prestigious MDPhD excellence program, expressing profound enthusiasm for collaborative work with scientists on a global scale.
