Dr. Sheng graduated from Beijing Medical University in 1995 with master degree in clinical medicine, his tutor was Prof. Youxin Xu, with whom Dr. Sheng learned psychopathology and neuroses. In 1999, Dr. Sheng got his doctor degree under the direction of Prof. Yucun Shen, his major field was psychosomatic medicine and published his paper about unexplained chest pain. After that, he past near 1 year in the department of social medicine, Harvard University as a visiting scholar. During that time, he learned illness narrative from Prof. Arthur Kleinman. Since 2005, Dr. Sheng Li cooperated with Prof. Dayi Hu in his outpatient service of psycho-cardiology.

Dr. Sheng focus on analyzing and solving mental health problems based on psychopathology, try to help his patients more with localized psychological assistance during routine clinical service.

He is currently a member of the standing board of the psychotherapy and counseling in the Chinese Mental Health Association and also a member of the standing committee of CPOS (Chinese psycho-oncology society).
