Jürgen Beckmann Ph.D., Professor

Dr. Jürgen Beckmann is full professor and Emeritus of Excellence at the School of Medicine and Health of the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Since 2017, he has been developing psychocardiology at the German Heart Center in Munich, where he currently works.

He has received academic training in several disciplines including various psychotherapeutic areas. He received his doctorate in psychology in 1984. After receiving his PhD, he worked for several years at the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research in basic research on motivation and self-regulation and the underlying neurophysiological processes.

In recent years he has dedicated himself primarily to the health and well-being of competitive athletes as well as psychocardiology. In psychocardiology, people with congenital heart defects became a major area of interest, resulting in numerous seminal publications in practice and research .

He has extensive experience as an advisor to universities, faculties and commercial organizations as well as editor (in chief) of scientific journals and books. For several years he has also devoted himself to research on stress and recovery and, together with Michael Kellmann, publishes an annual volume on "Advances in Recovery and Stress Research" with Routledge, UK.
