Arun V. Ravindran MB, MSc, PhD, FRCPC, FRCPsych, Professor
Dr. Arun Ravindran trained in Psychiatry at the University of London, completed his MSc in Neurobiology at Brunel University UK, and received his PhD in Behavioural Neurosciences at Johns Moore University and the University of Liverpool UK. He is a Clinician Scientist in the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. There, he is also a Staff Psychiatrist in Mood and Anxiety Services, for which he was the former Clinical Director and Chief. In the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Ravindran is Full Professor in the division of Neuroscience & Clinical Translation, founding Emeritus Director of its Global Mental Health Program, and currently Advisor to the Chair in Global Mental Health. He is a Full Member and Faculty at the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Toronto.
Dr. Ravindran’s clinical and research interests are in mood and anxiety disorders, in particular the neurobiology and therapeutics of these conditions. Dr. Ravindran has had a long-term interest in global mental health as well, having developed, evaluated, and implemented programs in several low- and middle-income countries in Asia and Central America. These have focused on improving mental health knowledge and wellbeing, reducing stigma, and building clinical capacity.
Dr. Ravindran has received peer-reviewed funding as principal or co-investigator of over $18 million and has over 350 peer-reviewed publications. In 2020 and 2021, he was nominated by the Web of Science - Clarivate to be in the top 1% of cited researchers in Psychiatry and Psychology, and across fields.
