Dr. Yu is Vice Director of the department of cardiovascular medicine, Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. He is a member of the psychosomatic branch of the Chinese Medical Association,  a member of the psycho-cardiovascular committee of the cardiovascular branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Chairman of the psycho-cardiovascular professional committee of Hunan Psychological Association, Vice Chairman of the cardiovascular Professional Committee of Hunan physiological and pathological society, and Vice Chairman of the cardiovascular Professional Committee of Hunan integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine society.

Dr. Yu is also the editorial board member of the Chinese journal of modern medicine, journal of medical engineering, medical herald, and the latest digest of world medicine.

Dr. Yu completed 3 projects of NSFC and 15 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, published 50 SCI and 80 CSCD articles, and won 3 third prizes of provincial science and technology progress awards, 3 second prizes, and 3 third prizes of science and technology progress awards of Central South University.
