Professor Ismail Laher is in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. His undergraduate training in pharmacology was at the University of London (UK), followed by further training in the USA and Canada.

His current efforts focus on the role of mitigating oxidative stress in animal models of disease. Professor Laher has published more than 200 peer reviewed research articles and edited three reference works. His research interest is vascular function, particularly of small arteries,  in health and diseases such as sleep disorders, diabetes, obesity. He has a keen interest in examining the role of the endothelium in regulating vascular tone.
