Dr. Zeng is Chief Physician and Director of Center for Evidence-Based and Translational Medicine, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University; Professor, Doctoral Supervisor and Director of Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology, Second Clinical College, Wuhan University.

He is Vice Chairmen of Evidence-Based Medicine Professional Committee, Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA), Standing Member of Evidence-Based Preventive Medicine Professional Committee, Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA), etc. He serves as Associate Editor-in-Chief of Military Medical Research, and also serves on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine, Scientific Reports, Journal of Clinical Medicine, etc.

Dr. Zeng is chiefly research on the evidence-based medicine, clinical epidemiology, clinical trial, evidence synthesis and knowledge translation, meta-analysis, systematic Review, and association between oral/gut microbiota and systemic diseases. He is the Leader of the National Key Research and Development Plan of China (Young Scientist Program), and he is the author of more than 200 scientific publications.
