Dr. Dong is Chief Physician of the Department of Cardiology, Shandong Provincial Hospital affiliated Shandong First Medical University. He is Taishan Scholar and professor in Shandong University and Shandong First Medical University.

He is also a Doctoral Supervisor of Shandong University ,Shandong First Medical University and Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

He is Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University School of Medicine, Member of Heart and Mind Editorial Board , Member of Chinese Arteriosclerosis Professional Committee, Member of Cardiovascular Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine.

His research focuses on the pathogenesis of cardiovascular complications of diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and the relationship between anxiety and depression and cardiovascular disease, and has achieved a series of important results. He has published a number of academic papers in well-known journals such as ATVB, PNAS, JACC, and won the first and second prizes of the Natural Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education in 2013 and 2017.
