Dr. Chong’s journey in the realm of psychology and geropsychology, deeply rooted in the rich cultural and academic environment of Singapore, has shaped his perspective on the intricate interplay between mental health and physical well-being, particularly in aging populations.

Dr. Chong’s academic journey has been marked a Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology from James Cook University, Australia, and a PhD in Psychology from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. These qualifications have been instrumental in developing his expertise in the psychological dimensions of aging and caregiving.

Currently, Dr. Chong is a Research Fellow at the Dementia Research Centre, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and an adjunct faculty at NTU Singapore’s School of Social Sciences. His role as a Non-Executive Director at GeroPsych Consultants Pte Ltd, a consultancy he co-founded, revolves around research and training initiatives in geropsychology. This experience has afforded Dr. Chong a nuanced understanding of the challenges and advancements in the field of aging and mental health.

His research interests encompass long-term care services use, caregiver experiences, and the development of geropsychological tools, such as personalised interventions to prevent dementia. These areas have been the focus of his publications and ongoing research projects, including one that studies the impact of Covid-19 on older adults and the psychosocial training of caregivers.
